Since I arrived at Midnight last night and was dead to the world I decided to just hit the hay and get some sleep. This morning I was pleasantly awoken my the sound of running water…

lots of running water. Like torrential rainstorm amount of water! All I could think was “screw this, I have a rain cover and jacket anyway” and just stayed asleep hoping it would pass. It didn’t. After a few hours a decided it was time to wake up anyway and see what was going on and how terrible my day was going to turn out which is when I got a pleasant surprise.

The rain wansn’t rain at all. It was the sound of the water falling over the edge of the infinity pool outside my room and started when it was turned on at 8am. Quite a happy little surprise 🙂

Had a steady little strole down to Tiger Muay Thai to get registered but since I didnt get out of the hotel until about 2pm (slept in then had to move rooms) I decided to give today a miss for training and start properly first thing in the morning. Instead of training though though I would head for a little stroll down to the beach to see what is going on and what Chalong has to offer. In a Josh Armstrong style fashion, here are the things I have learnt so far…

  1. Distance on a Map is very different from distance walking.
  2. The beach is just under 5km away.
  3. The beach is about 5m square and is actually just a harbor with boats tied up.
  4. Everyone drives on the left in Thailand, but seem to undertake
  5. The fastest thing on the roads are the scooters
  6. Chalong is not pedestrian friendly. You can either look down so you don’t fall into a ditch or keep your head up so you don’t walk into a road sign.
  7. Walking into a road sign hurts.

All in all I enjoyed my little chill out day and my 10km walk in the sun and I’m looking forwards to getting to grips with some of this fighting business tomorrow.
