I put up a post  a few weeks ago about how small the world seems to be when you bump into people again. The reason for that comment was that I met a guy at a hostel in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) that recognised me from a hostel in Nelson (New Zealand South Island). That to me seemed really random that it would happen like that on the other side of the world and I thought that would be my “amazing coincidence” moment for the trip but it looks like gets crazier than that.

A few days ago I put up a picture of one of the guys at the Circus School here in Pai doing fire Poi and tagged it at Pai Circus School. Another friend who I had met and spent some time with in Wanaka (New Zealand) saw it and commented on it as she was just down the road in Chiang Mai with another friend and was coming to Pai the next day! Neither of us knew that each other was in Asia, never mind Thailand and we couldn’t have guessed we would be a few hours apart.

The next day they both arrived and as we sat down chatting about how much of an amazing coincidence it was one of the staff members here walked up to her and said Hi too. It turns out that they both went to secondary school together for a few years and even sat together in maths but didn’t know each other was travelling at all. It is so quick to go from not knowing anyone to being practically related when you’re on the move like this.

Small small world.

  1. Uncle john will be disappointed that so far only Bob Wren has asked the question “Are you Jayne Ann’s son?” Glad you seem to have plenty of company on your travels xxx
